Long time no type,

Its now been a couple days since I last filled everyone in on whats going on but I eventually got to it. I blame my late reply on my allergies that have been absolutely killing me at now. I have had no motivation to really do anything on the computer the past couple days but I am back and hopefully felling better.

Since the last update, I have more and more information each and everyday. I have concluded that this company has very poor communication and organizational skills. For each of the tours we had to load all the equipment, tents, products and such but that was quite a task itself considering it took us four days standing on the black top in the hot sun (I have a nice tan going on right now). I could have easily organized and got this done in two days instead of the four or five days. But its all done now!

When I first received the internship I was told I would be assigned a specific section of the US and as each week went by I thought I would know where I would be located at. However, I just found out yesterday that I will be traveling all over the west coast. There were suppose to be 6 guys on our tour however one got moved to a different section and now we are only down to 5 guys. I will be in charge of pretty much everything going on and assisting the tour manager of our region. I will be selling subscriptions to baseball youth magazine, selling the phitan necklaces, hats, shirts, bats. While selling all that I will also be interviewing youth baseball players and their parents and running a little fan fest where the kids can play pick up wiffle ball games. I will also be giving away free beef jerky and bubble gum. (My lunch will consist of jerky). Although I never got assigned to a specific brand like Wilson or Rawlings, I will be doing a wide variety of things and overseeing the whole tour. It would have been nice to sell actually baseball equipment but I am starting to get over it and realize that I can put more on my resume then just selling bats or gloves.

Anyways, I have posted the schedule below so if anyone wants to come visit me on a day off that would be cool. Our group of 5 plan on hitting up as many MLB stadiums as possible and possible concerts. It is going to be one fun filled summer traveling all over. Its kinda like I am studying abroad on the west coast of the US. We will starting our journey for three months tomorrow morning! We will be driving everywhere so feel free to give me a call and take away my boredom on these long trips. Our longest drive is from Omaha, NE to Riverside, CA. (22 Hours)! FML. Yes, I will be attending the college world series:)) Anyways, I have attached a picture of all the dates when and where we work.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Weekend Check up

Howdy, (Southern Voice)

I haven't updated the blog since the 15th so I thought I'd write a little bit about what is going on the past couple of days. So far I am really enjoying the experience and meeting a lot of cool people along the way! There are people from all over..... University of Cincinnati, University of South Carolina, New Jersey, Ohio University, University of Kentucky. From what I've been told I heard a ton of people applied for this internship.

May 16, 17:

On these two days we just finished up loading all the trailers for equipment that we need for the tour. It was a lot of work and a lot of things that went into the trailers but we finally finished. The interns that arrived today and arriving and tomorrow have it made considering we did all the hard work of loading the trailers.

Today, May 18th:

Today was by far the best day of the internship. We actually got to travel to a local tournament here in Lexington, KY and set up the whole fan fest which we will be doing the entire summer. We had a bunch of tents (around 10) set up in a U shape so parents and players could go from tent to tent looking a the different products. In the middle we had wiffle ball bats out so kids could pitch to each other and have a good time. At the tents we were selling Louisville Slugger baseball bats, gloves, Adidas turf shoes, subscription to baseball youth magazine, Evo shield equipment, glove molding kit and other things I am probably leaving out. It was really cool interacting with kids throwing them the wiffle ball and letting them guys how hard they threw. We were also interviewing them and basically just making sure they were having a good time. At the same time we would be trying to sell the parents on the different items that we had. I ended up having a lot of fun playing with the kids, giving away free beef jerky and on the plus side I sold a $120 dollar Omaha baseball bat to some parent. Overall, it was a solid day to see what we will be doing over the summer. Either tomorrow or Monday I will figure more about where I will be this summer including what I will be mainly selling.

Anyways, we are all going out to dinner right now at some pizza place.... I am already getting tired of this eating out stuff. But I better get used to it consider its what I will be doing all summer.

Let me know if you guys have any questions or comments!

First Day

To all whom have interest,

To get things started you all should know that all my blog post will have grammatical errors and I would love for you all to save the comments for the peanut gallery. Anyways, in spite of the internship and people asking me how its going I decided to create a blog where I can give everyone a mass update! I am hoping to write about every other day but who knows how this will go... It is my first time blogging.

A little background information: In the winter I received an email that was sent to all the sports management students at OU about this possible internship. I ended up applying and after a few phone interviews, a small video of myself and a little luck I got the internship. Before my arrival today I didn't really know any details about the internship besides that I would be traveling with a group going to youth baseball tournaments marketing, selling, and promoting a specific sponsor.

Today was the first day and lets just say that I learned a lot more. My mom dropped me off around noon and I was put to work immediately. They had all sorts of equipment setting out and they had us start counting inventory of different products. While counting and talking with several other people I discovered more about what we will doing over the summer. I figured out that on Monday we will figure out what region we will be assigned to. The website is baseballyouth.com/road-trip and all the possibilities are listed there on the right hand side. I'm hoping to be assigned the south :))) I also learned that we will be leaving Lexington, KY on either the 22nd, 23rd, or 24th depending on our region. In each region, there will be a group of about 8 of us selling/marketing different sponsors. Once we are assigned a certain sponsor for the summer we will be sticking with it the entire summer.

Anyways, these are the small things I learned today. I can tell the next week should be pretty hectic, but once we are on the road things should start to get fun. I am taking everything in and trying to take as much info in as possible. I am also the youngest one here!! Most the other interns just graduated. But I need to head to bed. Hopefully I will learn more information tomorrow.
